Brief Description:  Landing light rt. wing

1.Used the duckworks landing light template to mark the cut out lines on right wing leading edge.

2. cut out the opening with die grinder and cut off wheel. Trimed closer to final size with dremel and much smaller cutting wheel.

3. Finished the opening with scotch brite wheel and then hand sanding to final edge.

4. Marked and drilled holes through the wing skin for the lens attach strips.

5. Placed the nose rib template in the last two outboard ribs and marked and drilled the screw holes for two platenuts on both ribs. Inside rib required a 90 degree angle attachment to drill. Used the screw holes to cleco the plate nuts on and then drilled the rivit holes . Attached the nut plates to ribs with blind rivits.

6. This wing will have the HID 50 watt landing light which requires a ballast. I will be mounting the ballast to the back side of the lights bracket. Used the ballast to mark hole location then drilled holes for the 7 mm screws that were supplied in kit. The cables will be secured to the top of ballast with cable ties wraped around the balast before mounting to the bracket. I need longer ties first so this will happen tomorrow.

7. layed the plexi lens over the wing cut out and marked the hole location. Used those lines to then mark for extra 5/8 inch on each side and 3/4 inch on top and bottom. Covered the lens with masking tape to protect it and then cut off the excess plexi with dremel. Finished the cuts with belt sander. Will finish sand with wet sanding tomorrow morning when its cooler.

Stop work time 1330 due to elevated temps >90 degrees and climbing. Too dang warm to expect good work.
