Brief Description: Header Tanks - Third Time is a Charm
The 1/16" aluminum on the new design was too flimsy. I opted to scrap the design and go with 1/8" aluminum for the vertical support while the brackets remained 1/16". The angle aluminum keeps the tank from moving vertically while the hose clamps (not shown) keep the tank firmly strapped to the vertical support. I still need to drill the holes for the bulkhead fittings and vents, another 2-3 hours of work. The nut plates were installed on the root rib for both wings. Now the wing tanks are 100% done. The focus now shifts to getting all of the plumbing done, lots of AN hose and fittings between the various fuel pumps, solenoids and engine. The fuel lines will easily take a full weekend to integrate and secure to the frame.
