Brief Description: Starter Project 1 - deburring, rivetting
|
|
Tonight I deburred and cleaned up all the parts (all three of them!), and had a go at rivetting. Just as well this is a starter project. I made some mistakes, which you can clearly see in the pictures. I didn't fix any of the problems as (1) I just couldn't be bothered, but more importantly (2) it'll serve as a future reminder of how I started and some of the problems that can easily occur. I won't be quite so cavalier with the actual aircraft, of course! No problem, I learned some more lessons:-1. Make sure the bits being rivetted are held tightly together.2. Make sure the whole assembly is secured, clamped to the bench, held in a vice; whatever.3. Hold the square on the rivet.4. If possible, do the rivet once only - don't keep going back for more!!5. Use two hands - one hand and one thigh doesn't quite cut the mustard!6. If in doubt, wait until you can either do it properly, or get some help.
