Brief Description:  Elevator controls

....cont/d from previous log entry due to character limit on text entry field (which I discovered tomorrow morning: yeah, I know, I'm a time traveller!)...

I also started setting the elevator travel. I have around 28 degrees up, which is slightly over the middle of the allowable range. I have about 20 degrees down which I think is at the bottom of the allowable range, so I'll have a re-check and re-work on that tomorrow evening if need be.

TIP: when trimming the F-812 elevator stop for the upwards travel, it is much easier to remove the stop and trim the skin. Since the skin is the lowest element, and the elevator horns travel upwards to contact, the skin is actually what gets 'hit' first. Once you have the skin trimmed, you can then cleco the F-812 stop back on and reach under with a pen to mark the edge of the skin. Remove the stop, trim and re-fit. Much much easier than trying to do it in place, especially if, like me, you have well over 1/8" to remove; you won't be doing that in place. I also used the scotchbrite wheel when trimmed to chamfer/angle the trimmed edge so that the elevators contact a flat and not a corner; I suspect it will be better this way.
