Brief Description:  Elevator controls

Had a big session tonight and though not a lot visually changed I got some important things done. I assembled the now primered F-840 and F-841 elevator pushrods. Riveted the F-635 elevator bellcrank together. Riveted the vertical stabilizer forward mounting bracket and spacer and removed the VS from the fuselage.

I then installed the F-840 and F-841 pushrods and hooked up the elevators. So cool to see them move with the stick! Here's how it works; you pull backwards on the stick to pitch up. The two sticks are connected together (through the center tube of the WD-807 control colum) with the F-839 pushrod. The rear stick is connected to the F-840 pushrod which gets pulled forwards. This is then connected to the F-635 bellcrank which rotates and thuspushes the F-841 pushrod backwards. This is connected to the elevator horns which moves the elevators upwards (as shown here) and the aircraft pitches up. The same is true, but in reverse, for pitching downwards (move the stick forwards).

Rather than use washers at the elevator horns I chose to make some aluminium spacers from AT6 tube as suggested in the plans; took longer, of course, but much cleaner and easier in the long run.
