RV-8 fuselage. This evening I spent an hour making the S-shaped pipe that goes from the Andair selector outlet to the fuel filter (and eventually to the engine). The piece of pipe I wrecked yesterday with the damaged bits cuts away looked like it might just be long enough: it wasn't! After a second attempt I had a pipe which, whilst not the neatest geometrical installation, fits properly and would do the job.
BUT (isn't there always one?), what I then noticed was that the angle fitting for the inlet from the left tank is *way* too close to the fuselage side skin to be able to get a pipe to fit at all. I can't really go in any other direction because of the other return pipes that will be installed. Result: I need to make a whole new bracket and move the selector further inboard. Hopefully I'll have some more spare .040 I can use again. Which also means, yes, I get to make that S-shaped pipe again. I rather suspect that this pipe making gig will go on for some time, and I'm already thinking of ordering more tube from Vans; its almost inevitable that I'll need more: its cheap enough, but the shipping costs to NZ, man that always hurts :-(
