Brief Description:  Cockpit fuel system

Made up my first fuel pipe this evening; the one that runs from the fuel filter to the fuel pump, through the gear tower. Even though it is the straightest and simplest pipe to make, I still managed to wreck the first once. Then on the second attempt I bend it just right at the fuel filter end (right side of first picture) and flared it, which is when I realised I had forgotten the fitting. I slid it on from the other end, but it wouldn't go past the bends. I had to straighten, moved the fittings along, and then re-bend, so it isn't quite as neat as it was. Even so, took me an hour to do this one pipe!

I also noted that the gear tower didn't actually have enough holes for the required number of pipes, so I had to open one of the index holes with the uni-bit. Finally, with the AN818 fittings on the fuel pipe, they won't go through the holes, so the flaring of the second end has to be done 'in situ' once the pipe is bent and in the correct place, run through the bushings and everything. That's a little awkward now so I can only imaging how tricky it would be when access is limited. Of course, it now means the pipes are permanently installed, so bucking some of those rivets, especially inside the gear tower, could be quite entertaining.

'Interesting' times ahead, methinks...
