Brief Description:  Right aileron alignment

A productive couple of hours tonight. First of all I attached the W-818 pushrod to the aileron hinge bracket. Then I made the aileron alignment jig and bolted it to the end of the wing. I used a clamp to hold the aileron in the correct position while I adjusted the bellcrank end of the W-818 pushrod. When the everything lined up according to the jig that Vans supplies in the kit, I bolted the pushrod to the bellcrank and tightened the locknut. Next I installed the W-816 pushrod and removed the aileron clamp... and... it works! Big smile :-) Its times like this that really boost your motivation and enthusiasm. I was quite surprised at exactly how little friction and force was required to operate the aileron. Finally, I noted that the Angle-of-Attack tubing was rubbing against the aileron bellcrank. The quick and easy fix here was a padded clamp and a pop rivet into a conveniently placed tooling hole in the spar. After sorting that, I had another play with the aileron. Later on Jackie came home, so I took her out to the workshop and we had yet another play with the aileron! I shall have to try not to wear it out before it even flies :-) Tomorrow then, I'll clamp the aileron back up and make a start on trying to sort out the flap installation.
