Date:  4-1-2006
Number of Hours:  5.25
Manual Reference:  7-3
Brief Description:  Priming the main ribs

Phew, what a day! Started at 8:15am and finished at 5:30pm, with a total time of 5.25 man-hours. That's 2.75 hrs cleaning all the ribs, 1 man-hour to alodine and rinse, and then 1.5 hrs to primer. Jackie helped me with the alodining so it only took 30 mins (two people=one hour). I dipped and she rinsed. Made it nice and quick. I'm glad I got this job out of the way while the weather was good. I chose to do this instead of skydive today, and I think the weather will be crap tomorrow so it was probably a good choice. We'll be able to start assembling the wing skeleton next week. The stainless steel trays I had made up, and the taps I then fitted to them worked an absolute treat - pleased about that. And the engraved tags that I cable-tied to the ribs to identify their position have worked out real well too. Once the primer is dry I'll write the rib position using a marker pen and cut the tags off. I know there is still a huge amount of worked left to do to complete this wing, let along the right wing as well, but with this job out of the way I feel like I have broken the back of it and look forward to assembly. Check back in a couple of weeks to see if I still feel this way!! :-)
