Brief Description: Drilling Left Wing Baffle Plate and Z-Brackets
Not much progress today. Distracted by doing an oil change on my wife's car and in general just cleaning up the hangar a bit.
I finally started drilling more of the Z-Bracket's in earnest, but I quit early to research some things. I just didn't feel like I was getting a nice round hole while drilling through the Z-Bracket, and on top of that I could not find the #30 drill-stop and I paused to either buy one or figure out another way not to hit the spar when breaking through the bracket. I know that sounds trivial but I feel like the wing tank must have a lot of stress on it under load and I want to make sure it's as good as I can make it. I will return later this week and use my reemer and an undersized hole to start with. The reemer should give me a nice round hole, but the trick apparently is to drill the initial hole about 1/16th smaller than called for. I'll have to figure out what size to use.
Heading back to DC tomorrow so will hopefully return on Friday.
