Brief Description:  Left Tank Baffle Drilling and Stiffener Constructi

Fantastic day at the hangar! Started off with an hour-long wandering flight in my Cherokee. Nothing fancy. I was going to shoot a few approaches at Mansfield but being a nice day every yahoo with a ticket was out there trying to fly approaches. Why don't they practice on the not-so-nice days? Will try again early one morning this week.

Started off by finish drilling the left-wing tank baffle. I tried match drilling into the Z-Brackets with a #32 drill, and then final-drilling with a #30 reamer. Worked like a charm. I then reviewed the instructions and decided to form the stiffener brackets for each tank. That took a while as I had to cut up and trim four lengths of angle aluminum. See Pic #2. After cutting, trimming, belt-sanding to final shape, and then scotch-brite smoothing of edges, I'm almost ready to go. Just need to run some fine sandpaper over the edges to smooth really well. Fortunately I don't need to worry about priming as these will end up at the bottom of each fuel tank.

Looking forward to doing more tomorrow.
