Brief Description:  Trim Tab Construction

Felt good to get back in the hangar after being gone for 3 or 4 days up in Ohio. Went right to work on finishing the Trim Tab. The goal tonight was to fabricate the end-piece (rib) to close off the large end. Still must work on the other end some. Not totally happy with that piece. It's so small on the other side that I might have to fabricate a piece from scratch using a wooden form.

So..I ended up cutting the end off of a spare E-703, then grinding the large end down on the Belt Sander and Scotch-Brite Wheel. Was actually a lot of fun getting it just right. Love it when the pieces are big enough to handle.

Cleco'd everything together at the end of the night. Had to mark and drill the holes first, but that wasn't bad. Still must dimple, then prime. Hopefully I can get to that tomorrow night.

Ended the night prematurely when I heard a strange buzzing sound. Looked up and hundreds of mosquito's or some other small flying insect were lining the hangar walls. So much for leaving the hangar door open on a nice Spring evening with the lights on! Tried the bug spray but the little buggers just moved up towards the ceiling. Who knew that bugs had brains??
