Brief Description: Grove landing gear installation-Part 2.
Today I inserted the inboard 7/16" bolts to hold the gear legs in position in preparation for alignment. With the inboard bolts lightly tightened I am able to pivot the gear fore or aft as required so they will ultimately assume the correct alignment with the fuselage centerline. I am not going to use the Plumb-bob method as outlined in the manual but instead employ the use of two 8' by 1.5" aluminium angle pieces (this idea comes from the builder forums) clamped to the outside face of the legs. I'll use these to ensure the wheel axels end up perpendicular to the aircraft centerline (no toe-in or toe-out). I will also be sure to take a measurement from the top center of the gear legs to the top center of the most aft point of the fuse.
