Finally, almost a month and no work. Trips to visit the grandson, a family funeral, Easter weekend and other commitments brought me to a complete stop. I'm working part time for the next two weeks, then my engagement is over.
So, today I got back to the shop. I completed match drilling the main ribs and installing them. Then, I began to drill out the entire assembly to #11. This time, I tried something a bit different. First, I drilled the groups of shims out to #11 on the drill press. Then, I drilled the holes in the spar out to #11. Then, with the shims installed, I drilled out the main rib from the front, then removed the main rib and installed/drilled out the nose rib from the aft of the spar. Much much easier than drilling everything in place. And much more accurate. In addition, I filed a round groove in the tops of the shim groups at an angle, so I won't get them mixed up of I disassemble the group. I probably have 2-3 hours to complete the drilling. I completed everything up to station 10.
