Brief Description:  Flap Construction

Today, I started by drilling the rib/spar out to #30. Then I disassembled, deburred, and scuffed in prep for priming at a later date. This took almost 2.5 hours for both flaps.

Next, I mixed up some epoxy primer and assembled each flap, one at a time and riveted. Per the plans, I left the #6 nose rib off.

Then, I removed the plastic from the inside of the flap skin. This was very difficult, as the skin is already preformed. I drilled a #40 hole in the bottom of each rib, 1 5/8" back from the front of the spar. This is to align the skin correctly. Then, I match drilled the Aileron 430 which will cover the center hinge point. Finally, I quickly put the skin on the right flap -- everything fit ok.
