Brief Description:  Flaps

Today, while waiting for the fuel tank leak repair to cure, I began work on the right and left flaps. First, I layed out four holes on each of the bearing flanges, then drilled and countersunk per the plans.

Next, the plans required me to trim the ribs to 12 1/8" measured from the front of the spar. I found it odd that these weren't made to length, other than they were perhaps used on another of Murphy's aircraft and it was an ease of manufacturing thing. Note that on the Moose, these are 12 3/8" -- as the flaps etc. are a bit different.

Finally, I match drilled the holes for the front and rear ribs on both flaps. Next work session, I'll drill out to #30, disassemble, clean/scuff all the parts, then epoxy/mate/rivet. I plan to prime the frameworks at one time, just before final assembly.
