Brief Description: Wing and Tank Skin Installation
|
|
Today, I spent quite a bit of time cleaning some things up. First, I added a ground block in the last bay of the wing extension for the position and two landing lights. I used a steel machine screw with Aluminum washers on each side of the spar, then a cad washer, the connectors, another cad washer and then an elastic stop nut.
Then, I repaired the 5 or 6 rib flanges on the upper leading edge and the main ribs. These were the flanges that were mis-drilled. You can see the bad holes on a diagonal fron left to right in the picture. I added a same thickness flange underneath, flush riveted it, and then drilled it correctly.
Next, I spent most of the remaining time deburring. Wow -- there are a lot of holes. I completed everything but the lower leading edge. I also went back and touched up the primer where necessary.
About two hours remaining tomorrow, then I'll be ready to pro-seal.
