Once finished with making the 6 degree bends, continued on with making the relief notches on the spar that is spelled out in the plans. As the HS00003 spar doublers (seen in the first picture) and relief notches are later add-ons to the kit (due to the SB 14-01-31), these additional holes and notches end up all being quite close, in particular the holes closest to the notches. Bottom line I'm unsure if there's adequate edge distance so I've emailed Van's for their opinion. Hope I don't need a new spar. Better to play it safe though. Also cut the taper to the flanges using the Dremel tool. Should have used this tool earlier. Came out really nice.
UPDATE: Received word back from a member of Van's and they say this is normal for this area and to build on.
