I thought about fitting a heated pitot but the following disuaded me.
* The aircraft is for VFR - I will only go IFR in an emergency. If the pitot ices up I'll set an RPM that will give a known speed for a given attitude. Power - Attitude - Trim = Performance * They are heavier and expensive * They use lots of amps * The standard tube will bend easily so if I hit a bird or an animal knocks it I can either rebend it or fit a spare that I'll carry. * K I S S
I found a lot of instructions on the web for fitting heated pitots but nothing for the standard pitot, so this is why I have added this information.
Measure - 3.75 inches to give some flex with the bending.
Bend - I used a peice of 40mm plastic pipe
Measure - Mark fush with the male flare on the bulkhead fitting
