I planned to do the fibreglass work after the wing/fuselage fitting as the weather is still relatively warm and I don't wish to do the fibreglass work inside the workshop.
I decided to have my tips removeable:
Pros: Easy to inspect, easy to apply anti-corrosion spray later and easy to repair if damaged
Cons: Extra cost (K-1000-6 nutplates are twice the cost of others), extra weight and extra time
1. Clamped the flaps/ailerons (already done while fitting flap fairing).
2. Shaped tip flange as per manual and then marked flange depth and sanded using 80 grit aluminium oxide paper glued to door that I used during fuselage construction with aerosol contact adhesive. This was so easy and gets a lovely straight line.
3. Not shown in the photos I bonded the reinforcement strips to the wing tip.
4. Fitted the tip as per instructions and clamped the trailing edge to the aileron. ....... / Cont
