Brief Description: 3Rs Air Race Abbeville 2016 Pt1
The forecast for Saturday was pants but thankfully upon arrival at the airfield they had it wrong as far as timing was concerned; so I was asked by new Clerk of the Course John Kelsall to do an octagon in a RV8 - but not any RV8!
In this entry in my build log you will see I was inspired during my build of the journey Peter Lawton took building his RV8 (G-RVPL). Peter sold his plane to Matt Summners our new racer - what a privilige to fly the octagon with his navigator Sean. Glad I had practiced some octagons recently as I flew a good one though it felt so strange flying another RV8 - lovely plane though with a 200 HP wobbly prop.
The race on Saturday was aborted half way through due to heavy rain - saddly the forcasters did eventually win!
