Brief Description:  Worked on horizontal stabilizer tips

Here you can see how I used the straight edge to shave the surface of the hs tip end. By holding the straight edge on the elevator and then swing it across the tip, I was able to form a nice concave surface. I took the tip off and mounted it in a small vice to make the tip suface horizontal. I then took some masking tape around the edge to form a pocket to for paster. I mixed up some plaster of paris and poured it onto the clay filling up the pocket made by the masking tape. When mixed right, plaster will harden within ten minutes. Image 3 shows the tip, the clay and the plaster that resulted. By the way, this took a couple of attempts to work out. The biggest problem I had was mixing the plaster. I found mixing proportions by weight for Plaster of Paris to water on the web. I used this to measure precise amounts of plaster to water for mixing. It doesn't take long for the plaster to set, so you have to mix it, stir it real quickly, and then pour it in the mold. You can adjust the water to plaster ratio to get it to harden more slowly if you like.
