Brief Description: Worked on horizontal stabilizer tips
The next step was to form a mold to hold the tip in place during fiberglassing. I used a small plastic container to act as a form. I put the previously made part into the container and then poured plaster into it. I used vegetable oil as a parting compound for the plaster face piece. I let the plaster harden, then I removed the pieces from the container. Then, I could take the clay out from inside the tip. The surround piece broke at the thin end. I now had three pieces for a mold which would hold the tip in place and form the outside surface of the end. My plan is to lay up fiberglass inside the tip using this form. Unfortunately, I did not take a picture of the three pieces. I did bake the plaster in the oven at about 170 degrees F to drive all the water off prior to laying up the fiberglass.
