Brief Description:  Put up plastic curtains for spray booth

The last couple of weeks was spent preparing the spray booth in my shop. I wanted to have an indoor spray booth setup so that I could potentially spray the finish on the plane. Whether I do that will depend a lot on my success with priming. In the far wall of the shop, I built in a blower to exhaust air to the outside. This is fronted by a couple of filters to take out the overspray dust. The curtains for the spray booth are 6 mil plastic sheet that's rolled up on 1" steel pipe. I use two ropes per curtain to roll it up into the ceiling when not in use. An wood block that has dowels for securing the ropes is attached to the wall. Pulleys are used to guide the rope to the attach point. After building the booth, lowering all the curtains and closing up the holes, I found that the fan sucked the curtains into the booth pretty well. I was concerned about this at the beginning, but I wasn't sure how severe it would be. I anchored the free standing wall to the floor where the tow 10 foot curtains met. This helped to stabilize the wall. In the future, I am going to have to add vertical posts to keep the curatins back in order to have more moving room inside the booth. The booth is roughly 10' x 20'. Note the furring strp attached to the wall in picture 3. That was done to keep air from getting behind the outside wall curtains pulling them into the room as well. This was only marginally effective. The booth will have to be reworked a little before the next spraying exercise.
