Prior to setting the hinges on the sides of the bottom cowl, I decided to shim up the sides so that the cowl surface would match the fuselage skin surface. I attached the cowl and determined that I needed about 3 layers of 8 oz fiberglass to shim the sides properly. I preped the sides and layed up a 2" wide layer of fiberglass.
