Brief Description:  Forward Fuse – deburring and L. Lower Longeron

I spent about 30 minutes finishing the edge deburring of the remaining parts from yesterday and then it was time to cleco the Center Section Assembly to the Forward Fuselage sub structure! The plans have you cleco on the L/R center section side plates (F-804H-1) first - presumably for structural orientation and rigidity – it’s also to verify that the flanges on the center section bulkheads are straight – which they were. Next, I moved the whole assembly so that the left side was slightly over hanging the edge of the worktable (this will allow me to drill from the bottom – up). When I inserted the lower longeron (F-843-L-1) I wasn’t satisfied with the fit at the aft end so I pulled it back off and “worked” it with the soft tip hammer until the fit was more to my liking. Then I made sure that the longeron was aligned with the forward floor panel skin (F-822-1) and clamped the longeron in place – with 2 clamps in the front (both horizontally and vertically) so as to insure contact with both of the webs of the lower engine mount bracket (WD-803-L-1). This longeron ties the forward structure together from the engine mounts on the firewall thru the landing gear boxes to the center section. Once I had all of the clamps in place, it was time for some dinner so I will start the drilling tomorrow.
