Brief Description:  Left Wing Skins – 1. One-man work in prep for two

In prep for the last two-man work session, I took a half day off today and worked from home in the morning so as to get right out to the shop as soon as work was over. First thing to do is squeeze the rear spar rivets on the right wing. The wing looked AWESOME having all the clecos out and the holes filled in! In fact, it looks so good I decided to clean up the wing with MEK and get all the marking lines off of it…then I decided to strip off all of the vinyl. WOW! I sent a picture to the wife, who texted back, “OMG, It’s beautiful!” Yes, It is.

Next I had to get the left wing ready for top skin rivets….Quick!
So I put the left wing back on the cradle, Leveled / removed the sag, tweaked the wing cradle until I got 3 measurements (inner, middle, outer) of 0.0 on the electronic level, set up the plumb bobs and took out the twist. Installed left wing leading edge with blind rivets in spar/ribs and Installed fuel tank with z-bracket bolts, and trailing edge screws. I had just squeezed half of the top skin rivets on the leading edge trailing edge when Bob called and said he was ready. Not quite ready for the second man, but much closer than yesterday...
