Brief Description:  Right top skins – more work

Bob was back again tonight for another top skin session. We were able to set all of the rivets that I call, “two-man” rivets, and all that is left are the span-wise row of rivets along the bottom / rear spar. Those are driven with the squeezer so they are one-man rivets.

Part of building an airplane in your garage involves pre-planning the work sessions so that you are assured of having the right parts, tools, equipment and labor to finish the job. As far as the next work session goes tomorrow night, Bob will be back for one more day and then he leaves to go back home. The problem is, at this point, there is a bunch of one-man jobs to do before I am ready for more two-man jobs, and I only have a two-man crew for one more night before needing to recruit some more help. Here is my dilemma, as you know, the span-wise rivets across the rear spar still need to be squeezed. I really would like to get those set before moving the right wing from its’ twist-free environment as those rivets will be key in locking the wing in place. So, don’t move the wing…well, there is only access to shoot rivets in one wing at a time. So, while we riveted the right wing, the left wing skeleton was sitting on the workbench. Here are all the one-man jobs that need to be done before the two-man jobs can be accomplished.
· Put the left wing back on the cradle

· Level/remove sag in left wing skeleton, get 0.0 readings on level

· Measure twist on bottom spar to plumb bobs – insure twist free.

· Install left wing leading edge with blind rivets in spar/ribs and then squeeze trailing edge rivets

· Install fuel tank with z-bracket bolts, and trailing edge screws

· Verify skin lap joint is good before final clecoing of skin to wing

· Cleco skins to wing

Here is where the second person comes in… I will need to take ½ a day off tomorrow.
