Brief Description: First flight in RV
|
|
Flew with Jim Thorne, Chandler, AZ – builder # 70614 first flight in an RV… RV-7A N742JT We scheduled my son to play in a showcase in Phoenix, AZ before his senior year baseball season started...kind of a semi-family vacation / tune up for the upcoming season. There were a few different locations, Houston, Phoenix and a few others…We choose Phoenix because it is in the desert… and everyone knows it is warm in the desert… Right?. If aliens spent the weekend of 12/3/11 in Phoenix they would no doubt, report back to their little green Supreme Commander that deserts are cold and rainy! And they would be right! However, I had already let my “Orndorff tape buddy”, Jim Thorne, know back in November that I was planning a trip to Phoenix in December…and he offered to show me around his RV and possibly take it up if the weather was good… I really only had a few hours on Saturday available for non-baseball related activity. The weather was a bit cloudy with some rain in the area, but I did get to meet some really great people – friends of Jim’s who were either building – or already flying their RV’s or other type of airplane. One hanger had a beautiful Waco!
