Brief Description:  Drilling for Cabin Heat and Oil Cooler cables

So, on the right side gear tower, I have decided to put the oil cooler cable, the cabin heat cable and the pilot headset connection. The issue I need to be aware of is that forward of the right gear tower is the smoke oil tank and so the cable runs will have to go up and to the right to miss the smoke oil tank. These cables have 4" of straight tubing, before they become flexible, and the gear tower is only 6" deep so the cable will have to do a 90 degree up and then another 90 degree forward - or two loops or something to stay in the gear tower but out of the way of the smoke oil tank. The issue I need to be aware of on the pilot side is the ergonomics of the push/pull action on the cables as well as how the cables will affect the maintenance going forward in the gear tower - how easy/hard will they be to maintain and how will they affect the other things in the gear tower... Things to ponder…

That's the thing about first-time airplane building - as an aside...Jay Pratt flew his second RV-8 this week, his 6th RV to build - and it took him 14 months - from start to flying, as he says, so no paint yet, but he is flying (Congrats, Jay!!). When you already know that the cable will bend that way and will work fine for 4,000+ flight hours, you just drill the hole and go... or you don't because it won't work. But you don't have to "figure" so much and find the best way - like I am doing.

Oh well, I got one set of holes drilled for one cable, and I think the geometry will work
