Brief Description: Pre-engine installation work #1
As the right fairing was now in the drying phase, Bob and I decided to divide and conquer the next items on the list to get the engine hung. It was now looking as if we were getting close to scheduling Joe for a visit. But first, the engine mounts nuts needed torquing, the oil fitting needed to be replaced with a fitting that included a restrictor, and we needed some way to anchor the tail wheel that took less room than the tailwheel stinger as I am conserving garage space. These are the things Bob handled superbly. He torqued the nuts on the firewall/engine mount, installed the cotter pins, and bent them back so they would not claw the skin. He removed the restrictor-less oil fitting (which took grit and determination), and he designed and manufactured the super-efficient tail anchor that will be used as ballast once the engine is hanging off the front of the fuse.
