Brief Description:  Engine Build - Day 2

Day Two started off bright and early and Connie was ready to go when I rolled in around 7:15 am. I knew I was only there to watch - but was hard not to jump in and lend a hand. But that's part of letting the pros do their thing...I was there to watch, ask questions and understand how and what goes into crafting an engine... I was not there to actually “build” the engine. :)

Each day started around 7am and each day the Barrett’s would take me to lunch (probably to give Connie a break) and that provided more opportunities for me to ask more questions and hear more airplane and pilot stories... I mean, come on, it was a vacation. Yesterday, we ate at the Coney-I-Lander (fabulous hot dogs) and to top it off, Allen came out to see his brother, Shad and me for lunch! Today, Rhonda, Monte and I went to the White River Fish Market and I recommend the grilled trout - Yum!

I watched my engine coming together and as other things popped up in the shop, Monte or Shad would come over and ask, "Hey, do you want to see something cool?" And off I would go to increase my aviation knowledge or satisfy my curiosity. Connie was able to get the case and pistons finished off today and the accessory case put on, with most of the accessories installed. I might have to load another log entry for today - just to show the artwork-grade silk thread job Connie did on the case halve...
