I needed more room to work outside the wheel pant and set up the laser, so I temporarily moved the workbench outside. It was an easy move as I installed the retractable wheels during the build, which is the first time I have used them. Anyway, I wasn't happy with how the alignment was progressing last session, so I started the process over with my new area to work in. I removed the jig, the wheel pant, and the spacer block. Starting with the bare wheel, I ensured the fuselage was aligned to the centerline marks. Then I re-taped the spacer block in position and drew a thicker black line down the centerline. I aligned the laser on the wheel's in-flight camber, leveled the jig, and slid it under the installed wheel pant. Next, I aligned the jog to the reference line fore/aft at 18.4 cm, adjusted the forward spacing of the 808 bracket, and then leveled the wheel pant to the fore/aft lines. On this wheel pant, with the thicker black wheel centerline, I still could not see if the camber matched the centerline of the tire, so I drilled a hole in the pant centerline to peek. I was off a bit, so I made that adjustment, and then before drilling the holes, I checked all the measurements again (fuse alignment, wheel pant level at center marks, 18.4 front and back on jig distance, and centerline-to-tire good). It went much smoother today and the wheel pant was in alignment, and so I drilled the holes.

Today, I listened to the Fisk arrivals into Oshkosh while working in the shop for additional motivation.
