The good news is that the relays arrived and are in hand, but the bad news is they do not have attach brackets as they are the socket mount type and not the panel mount type of relay. I thought I purchased the panel mount type, but I didn't. I scoured the internet and all the electrical supply websites for the panel mount relays with the pre-wired internal diode that fit my spec, so now I have the decision to make. I could purchase diodes and wire up my own relays with an external diode, use velcro to attach the relays to the bulkheads, or make my own attach brackets out of JB Weld.
I went with option #3 as I have four removable attach brackets from the scrap auto relays already in stock, so I removed those four brackets and started designing and building the forms out of gorilla tape and tongue depressors. I mixed up some JB Weld, poured the forms, and set them aside to cure. The following day, I pulled the tape and cleaned them up on the scotchbrite wheel and was very happy with the results. I have two relays with 100% JB Weld brackets; the other four have metal brackets attached to the relays.
The last step was testing the relays with the flap wiring! Success!
