Brief Description:  Cowling #4 - First cut

I made the first cut on the cowling today and did the follow-up sanding. I started by measuring for and making the spacer at the bottom of the cowl when the cowling is off the fuselage to mimic the firewall spacing. I then worked up the courage to make the first cuts on the top cowl across the bisected 6.5" half-cowl mark, giving myself room for error and sanding so that the two halves rendered slightly more than the 13" that is desired. After making the cuts and sanding them smooth with the sanding blocks, I noticed the spinner inlet slanted on both the top and bottom cowl halves. I spent a lot of time scratching my head to determine if I was imagining it, if it was really there, and if so, if it was a problem. I am not ready to move forward before I look into this issue further. I looked at the floor level vs. the cowl level, and the floor is level, whereas there is a 1/4" gap on the straight edge off the right inlet vs. 1" off the left, so yeah, it's there, but is it essential... dunno yet.
