With the three layers of carbon fiber, the oil door was less stiff than the original Van's fiberglass door, so I added four more layers of carbon fiber, one the size of the door opening and the other three larger than the future opening. I covered it with peel ply, then laid some wax paper over the entire layup and used a surplus plastic hotel key to squeeze the oil door area.
With the layout drying, I went to the airport and added a few more hours of flight time on the Kolb. With seven carbon fiber layers, the oil door is significantly stiffer than the Van's provided door and looks considerably cooler. :)
