Brief Description: Wheel pant jig #1
With the fuselage level and the wheels off the ground in flight attitude, I started building the wheel pant jig, which will help with the 3-axis alignment of the wheel pant. The jig will also hold the wheel pants while drilling holes for the attach screws. I learned of this jig and method on VAF, and it is a logical method.
Starting with a very straight, prime 2"x6"x4', cut to the length of the wheel pant, I set aside the remaining 13" to use on the side. I clamped the t-square to the wood to ensure an excellent 90-degree cut. I also bought aluminum angle, carriage bolts, extra washers, and nuts for the leveling base. After drilling and tapping the angle, I attached one vertical side with the wood clamped and aligned with the t-square. I cut an extra side of angle, but that's as far as I can get tonight, as I need more prime wood.
