Brief Description:  Bob visit - Day 2

After breakfast, we went to the shop to determine if we were conservative enough in our fourth antenna run of RG400 measurement. I would say "final" run, but I have a very short wire run from the GTN-650xi GPS to the antenna at the glare shield. I found a surplus piece that will be perfect for that (fifth) run. It turns out - we had enough for that fourth wire run to the transponder after all, and Bob made quick work of the two connections, and the antennas were officially complete.

The next item on the to-do list was the Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) installation and wiring. I had already fabricated the ELT mounting plate and had the holes drilled and dimpled for the rivets to attach the mounting plate to the longerons. But we decided it would be better to install nutplates and make the ELT tray removable for future maintenance and upgrades. So Bob worked on that while I worked on the ELT antenna location and installation. As part of the ELT install, the provided D-sub plug was of the solder cup variety. I told Bob I would buy a crimp pin D-sub, but he wanted to try the solder method as a plan A. He battled that thing for a long while, but he did come out victorious! We checked continuity on all plugs, and they all tested out great!

Bob volunteered to climb into the fuselage and do the ELT remaining wiring as we needed to fish an additional ELT Rx wire from the ELT up to the remote switch in the panel as I didn't tell AFS to make it long enough. We were so busy that I didn't take hardly any "in-process" pictures. Oh well.
