Brief Description:  Transponder support #9

I am waiting for one clip nut to arrive (Thanks, Greg), but other than that, this Transponder support is complete. I finished drilling for all of the nutplate holes, finished priming, installed the nutplates and all the other clip nuts in the bulkhead spans, so we are finally good to go. It took me more than 26 hours to design and build this transponder support, including working out the design features that will allow for the best maintenance, uninstalling it, and installing it after the forward skin is permanently attached. How to easily remove the transponder, allow for the tray to be removed, if needed, and allow for the structure to be removed. It also has to allow the GMC507 autopilot wiring harness to connect. I still may need to carve a bit of the aft tray support once I get the main wiring harness installed, but that will be an easy mod, and I don't want to carve anything if I don't have to.

So there is a lot of cypherin' that goes into one of these things. But it's kind of like asking, "Would you rather it have taken you three years to learn to speak Spanish, or be 80% done learning in 1 year?" I will take the "three years" every time, because it's always better to have a completed task instead of an almost complete one. And that's how I feel about this part. Complete!

I notice now is the time to wire up the voltage regulators as they will have difficult ( lay upside down in the cockpit) access after the avionics stack is installed.
