I wanted to finalize the exact position of the GAD29 and GEA24 boxes so I would know where the harness wires would be going, so I finalized the design and installation method of the two boxes on the cradle.
The end design has the angle sitting on top of each other with two holes drilled thru both angles. I will install two nutplates on the top angle and install both angles with a screw holding both angles up thru two holes in the cradle. This should be easier to install/uninstall in the future.
So, for a good close fit, I cut another 1/4" off the floor angle of the GAD 29 support (the top angle). This allows enough room for the nutplates to be installed and enough clearance for the mounting screws to be installed, but with minimal space wasted between the two boxes. I had to cut the angle floor with a hack saw as the angle would not fit properly in the band saw.
After cutting the angle I smoothed/deburred it and started measuring for the nutplate locations. Measuring drilling, countersinking, deburring, riveting of the nutplates ensued and I was ready to drill matching holes in the cradle and do a test-install of the boxes. It work as planned!
