Brief Description: Dimple the Doubler, panel light test
I dimpled the doubler with the DRDT-2 and that took about 2 minutes from set up to clean up. Unfortunately, the fuselage holes can only be dimpled with the blind pull method and that is a manually intensive procedure. My pull rivet squeezer seemed to be on the fritz a little bit and it would mis-fire after 2-3 pulls and I would have to disassemble/reassemble it to get it to work for the next pull...so a slow process became slower. But I battled thru it.
After all of the pull-rivet holes were done I took the countersink bit and cleaned up the holes a bit as the pull dimpler doesn't exactly do the complete job.
After doing that, it was too hot to prime the doubler so I did a test on the panel lighting in night lighting conditions. The black lettering on the gray panel shows up well in the red night lighting but I could only see the right corner of the side panel since I was only using the side panel lights and not the panel lights because they aren’t installed yet. I will probably do a real test with the temporarily installed panel lights. The white lettering is slightly easier to see/read but not by much – I was surprised.
