Brief Description:  Falcon g-meter, accelerometer

I have always liked the look of the old-school g meter and was determined to have one in my airplane. I bought one from a guy in Florida back in 2016 and was looking forward to putting it in my panel. I understand that there are newer, lighter, electronic models that have many other functions...but I like my old school g-meter. It brings me joy, what can I say.

Unfortunately, that Falcon g-meter did not survive the 3 USPS mail trips... so I needed to go another route. I called Falcon Gauge and spoke to a very nice lady with a bit of an accent and she explained that they no longer make the g-meter and it was not feasible to have mine fixed. One option was to go with one of her other models, that would be basically the same, but they had markings for -1.5g and +3g and my airplane had different limits.

I went online and found a new one in Europe for $850 and another one on EBay for $650 but still, I thought I could do better. I put an ad in the VAF thread and the next day I got a reply from a guy who had taken one out of his Kitfox and it has been sitting on the shelf for a few years. He sent me pictures and we agreed on a price. Ironically, it is already marked for the g limits of the RV-8! The other bonus was that he was about 2 hours south of me, so no shipping, I could drive to pick it up. Sold!

Sunday, Teresa and I drove to Madisonville (in the snow) and picked up the new/old g-meter. This is my anniversary gift from my bride of 30 years and I love it! BTW, we also found a BBQ place that has an Alpaca petting zoo, so we will be going back when the weather warms up!
