Brief Description:  Ordered the engine today

I was working in the office pondering something and I looked at a book sitting on my bookshelf. The book had been sitting there for many years and I obviously knew it was there as I was the one who put it there. But today I noticed it in a different way. I got up, went to the bookshelf and grabbed the book, it's called, "Internal Combustion Engines" by Lester C. Lichty. It was one of my Dad's college text books from his years at the University of Detroit. I have had the book for many years, but today, I saw it in a different way. Opening it up to the front back cover reminded me of another good day, 27 years earlier, when I told my father what we decided to name our first child, if he was a boy. After telling Dad his potential name, he said, "That's a good name, I lived in Holden Hall in college." We had no idea. Lots of good memories.

I have known since 2014 what type engine I would get and who would be building it. At Airventure 2014, I met Allan Barrett at the RV social and we talked for about 45 minutes and that sealed the deal. Over the years, on the phone, at Sun-n-Fun or at Airventure, I would check in with Allan and his sister, Rhonda, about "my engine". Fast forward a few weeks to late January when Bob and I were discussing timing on when to order our engines. For the last few years I have been pushing it off as it's a large cash outlay and kind of the "All in" point of building an airplane. But hey, I have been putting this off and it's really getting to be that time. So, I nailed down the final numbers and waited a few days to officially make the order on 2/4/2020, in remembrance of my dad. I sure do wish he were here to experience this with me. He would be so much help. By the way, I started reading that book. I figure what better way to learn about the engine, and also walk in the path of my father.
