Brief Description:  Prep/Prime Fuse parts

WOW! Lots and lots of prepping and priming today. My thought was that I was leaving town for a fishing trip tomorrow morning and so this would be the opportune time to get the parts primed and then allow them a few days to fully cure. As a fall back, “plan B” - I felt like if I couldn’t get everything done, then I would just focus on getting the initial parts prepped/primed that would be riveted together in the following steps and worry with the rest of the parts later. But, I kept working, and I kept looking at what was left – and eventually I powered thru and finished all the parts I planned to finish. I didn’t prime the F-824 aft side skins – as I planned to just prime the faying surface on those skins. I thought about not priming anything aft of the baggage area, but figured since I was there I would do the bottom skins and all the longerons. But understand, per Van’s, the only mandatory priming here is the 3 sets of longeron angles that are not Alclad (F-887, F-844 and F-843), everything else is if/as desired. So you should prime what you want outside of Van’s recommendation – as I did.

It seemed to help to pre-prep some of the skins with the scuffing. That allowed me to just use the EcoEtch and chemically clean and do a final physical etch on the parts. It was quite a productions, I had 5 table surfaces holding parts and even then I had to do the large skins as a second layer on top of the smaller parts and then move them off when they were primed and set.
