Brief Description:  Primed the HS sub-structure

11/18/12 – 2.0 hours - Preparing HS parts for assembly (cont.)
I am to the point where I need to prime the parts in preparation of riveting. So I gave them all a good once-over to make sure they were smooth, deburred, etc. and cleaned off any remaining sticker residue and ran my fingers over all the edges and holes to verify, one last time, that the parts are ready. After that, I mixed up a bucket of dawn detergent and water. This will remove any dirt, grease, fingerprints, etc. I had to put on my latex proctologist gloves so as not to contaminate to surface of the sub-structure (ribs and spars) with my hands after cleaning. The process is to clean the part in the dawn/water solution, rinse it off with water, air dry it (I will use the compressed air to blow it dry) and then prime. Once the gloves go on - I won’t take them off until the parts are on the painting stand, ready to prime. Again, just doing the substructure today - I am not yet ready to prime the skins…but they can wait a few days. This means I am getting really close to some major part assembly in the next step… .

No pictures of the actual cleaning/drying...
