I have had a slack period with this part of the building process as it seemed to drag on and on so I couldn't get too enthusiastic. It seemed all I was doing was sanding, filling, sanding, filling and priming the tips to get as many imperfections out as possible. I tried painting them on a really still sunny day but had dust settle on them, so then I had to sand these back again, and get them ready to paint in a proper spray booth.
I decided to get all the flaps and ailerons ready to paint in the booth, so these were all primed.
Used my mates booth and they came out great, I painted the bottom of the parts first, flipped them over and painted the top. There was a bit of overspray on the underside of the parts, so it was just a matter of cut and polish and the surfaces turned out very glossy and smooth.
