Gave the tips one last coat of white 2 pak paint, turned out OK, just a couple of small spots I had to wet rub down and then polish. Time to fit and connect up the wing tips lights and position/strobe lights.
Started the right tip first, stuck in the exhaust heat sheild foil on the inside of the wing where the lights are as per plans, crimped and soldered on the small connectors for the position lights, extended the wires and marked each wire for connection. The lights I extended with 15 amp silicon cable, and over the soldered connection between the wires I slipped a fibreglass sleeving with a heat shrink over the top of this and then another heat shrink over the two cables, there is no way this will rub and short between wires. (The beauty of being a electric motor/generator technician).
Did the same with the left wing tip, all tips finally done, now I can store them away until final assembly.
Connected them both up to 12 volts and checked everything works, they look great.
