Brief Description:  Wingtip Prep & Lights

Started the right wingtip, body filled in the rib angle, sanded and layed a piece of fibreglass over this to strengthen. Layed one piece of the 1/4" rope inside the wingtip and fibreglassed in place. I find I can only do 1 or 2 of the strengthening ropes at a time due to the resin setting, but this is OK as only one side can be done at a time anyway.
I made the 12 (6 per tip) landing light mount tubes out of the AT6-058x5/16. Very fiddly work, as they need a 70 degree angle cut on one side and the flat side is only 1/32" thick, just a tip, use a sanding or linishing wheel, makes light work of it, with a good set of pointy nose pliers so your fingertips don't get worn down.
Painted the little pieces white just as the rest of the parts and assembled the entire lighting unit, looks great. I had to fit it in and have a look along with the position/strobe lights. The position/stobe lights are from Aveo Australia Enginering (www.aveoengineering.com.) These are fantastic with a life time warranty and the LED position and stobe lights have to be seen to be believed.
