Brief Description: Collected the Engine

A pre-Christmas family visit to Warrington was arranged with two cars. This allowed me to take one car (VW Passat Estate) further south to Warwick, today, while the rest of the family had driven back to Scotland. I stayed overnight with Bill, taxi and Antonov AN2 driver! I had previously checked the dimensions of the crate, and the weight (84 kg).
On 22nd I commuted the short distance to Skydrive where I picked up the Rotax 912 ULS engine. I was rather surprised to discover that this very large bill was not queried by the credit card company when I presented my card. Sometimes it is too easy to spend a 5-digit sum in seconds!
To backtrack a little, the engine is expected to be part of the overall RV-12 kit. However it is manufactured in Austria, will be shipped to the US of A, then reshipped back to me in the UK. Given the plunging £-Euro and £-$ exchange rates, I felt that it was prudent to purchase this now, and deduct it from the Vans firewall forward kit when the time comes to order this.
This raises five issues:
1. Will Vans be happy with this arrangement? Uniquely for this kit they expect rather than just hope to deliver an engine.
2. The warranty starts now, so will be mostly gone by the time the engine is running in the airframe.
3. I have ordered the slipper clutch and the large-capacity starter. Will this fit?
4. I have not ordered any other accessories. Are there any that Vans would otherwise have included that I will otherwise have to order separately and fit, or get fitted, to the engine?
5. Fixes may be required to the engine in the interim. I would expect Vans to deliver a fully-updated engine at the time of purchase. I may have to make arrangements to apply any mods.
