Again, unique to this kit is the content of the firewall-forward kit. It contains a Rotax 912S engine together with all required accessories (wiring, oil/fuel lines, coolers etc.), and a Sensenich ground-adjustable composite prop.
In order to reduce costs, I asked Vans to delete the Rotax engine from the kit, as I had sourced a new engine from Skydrive in the UK. If I had known the difficulties caused, I would have reconsidered this decision.
In order to get my engine to "fit" I had to:
1. Order adapters for the sump and oil cooler 2. Order a replacement mechanical fuel pump with fuel lines attached 3. Order a Rotax sub-kit for fuel lines from the carbs to the banjo fitting. 4. Modify the hydraulic oil lines
This was not cheap, significantly reduced the savings I was hoping to achieve, and added to the hassle factor and the elapsed timescale. And my engine does not have the soft-start module that is delivered with a Vans engine.
